Undergraduate Research Assistant

Major: Biomedical Science

Supervisor: Ana Salazar-Puerta, Ph.D

About Me:

I am a second-year Biomedical Science major and a Stamps Eminence Scholar at The Ohio State University. I joined the Gallego-Perez Lab in February 2023 and my work is focused on treating peripheral nerve injuries through non-viral cell therapies. Over the summer of 2023, I worked in the Chandler Lab at Nationwide Children’s Hospital as the recipient of the BuckeyeThon Internship. My work consisted of characterizing alternative splicing for the insulin receptor gene in a CRISPR mouse model. Outside of the lab, I am involved in the Boxing Club and the Mexican Student Association. I am also a mentor to current high school seniors at the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. After graduating, I plan on pursuing my Ph.D. and working in private industry.
